One Year Mark

Well It's been 1 year since I started treatment for Lyme Disease. One year is a very long time to take antibiotics. I'm growing quite sick of them. I really don't know how much longer I have until I'm 100% back to my old self. I'm just taking it one day at a time.

I am feeling better. I just have some pesky lingering symptoms that aren't going away easily. It's nothing big- just occasional lightheadedness, aches, and very rarely heart palpitations.

Right now I'm very achey. I started taking Samento (it's an herb- sort of a natural antibiotic). I think it's causing me to herx. Hopefully it will help me along.:-)

Hi there :). I also have Lyme, I'm 26 and I've had it since I was 20/21 with a few years without diagnoses and have been treating it rigorously for 2 years.

Hope you're feeling better! Those herx days can be so rotten, but then you feel much better once it passes. Taking Acvtivated Charcoal capsules by Natures Way really helps deminish the herxing because it absorbs the die-off toxins (take away from any medicines though or it'll absorb them instead of you!). I take about 8-10 charcoal capsules when I'm herxing really bad and within an hour I feel better. It's 100% safe/non-toxic.

Magnesium also really really helps to make you feel better and get a leg up on the lyme symptoms. I take Magnesium malate or Taurinate capsules 1000mg 5-6x a day. Sea Salt and Vitamin C have also helped me feel improved on a day to day basis, well worth trying :). 1-2 capsules of each 5-6x a day with plenty of water all day. And liquid Prima Una De Gato (concetrated tao-free cats claw) which has been very helpful.
I never did the antibiotic approach myself. I read up on people who had tried it and it didn't heal them 100% and they had really bad candidiasis from being on them which made the lyme symptoms feel worse.. so I was ambivalent to do them. But for some people they really do work great!

I don't know if you have a Lyme Literate Medical Doctor in your area, but just some advice from one lyme fighter to another.. you should give rifing a try. You will be glad you did, but only use professional high-quality ones like a GB4000 or Coil Machine. Calling some LLMDs in your area and telling them you have lyme and want to know of any rife practitioners in your area would be a good bet. I've tried literally every single form of treatment other than antibiotics all with some improvement, but rife by far has been a god send and has given me the most lasting improvement over anything else.

Rife machines are not FDA approved, so Doctors cannot legally prescribe that you see a rife practitioner, but usually they are more than happy to give you the needed contact info so you can start feeling better.

I would also recommend reading the books:

Healing Lyme by Steven Buhner (full of herbal antibiotics that helped me a lot)

Top 10 Cures For Lyme Disease by Brian Rosner and his other books

Rife Frequency Healing by Nenah Sylver

A Cure For All Diseases by Hulda Clarke

I'm going on 2 years this month with an official lyme disease diagnosis. I too am now on my 2nd round of antibiotic treatment for 8 months. The first treatment of 8 months got me back on my feet and back to work for 4 months and then "bam", back on my back in bed for 2 months. This disease really kicks your butt and I'm sorry you have to go through this at such a young age. I'm 46 with a family of 8. Was very active as a former college athlete and martial arts expert (black belt in two disciplines). Now I'm lucky if I can get out of bed and house 2 to 4 times a week. I'm herxing badly and am trying to keep a smile on my face. My family keeps me going. I hage two kids playing college sports and that keeps me happy and motivated to watch them on TV. I have a friend now fighting for his life with cancer and on chemo. I went to the hospital yesterday to see him and he look bad. Now lost all his hair and the cancer is spreading. I came home and looked at myself and concluded I was one lucky guy. So I guess what I'm saying is that even thought what we have to deal with 24/7 is bad and life disrupting, there are many out their far worth off than us. So on those bad days, remember those folks, smile, count your blessing, name them one by one, and go out and serve others. Service is the best medicine I've found, even if its just spending quality time with your son.

Lauren, I am so sorry about what you are going through. My close friend as well as several family members all have Lyme Disease as well. Found your blog during a web search for Lyme blogs. Just wanted to get the word out for people who live in tick-prone areas -- recently discovered "tick tubes".
